01 Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences - Cutting-edge research beyond the boundaries of field specialization

Our program is built on the goal of educating young scientists for them to be able to develop effective treatments of intractable diseases during their research career through global-scale collaborations.

Osaka University has produced scientists who successfully advanced research in the field of basic sciences, such as in immunology, tissue engineering, and neuroscience. IPBS, at Osaka University, provides interdisciplinary curriculum that gives students access to a wide variety of academic and industry research. We expect our graduates to be leaders in interdisciplinary biomedical sciences who can further progress towards finding cures.

Our program recruits researchers from medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, frontier biosciences, science, and dentistry, not only from academia but also from industry, so students can engage with them in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.

  • Basic Medical Sciences
  • Clinical Medical Sciences
  • Practicum in Human Anatomy
  • Practicum in Physiology
  • Laboratory Rotation
  • Progress Report Meetings
  • Seminars by Industry Researchers
  • Internships at Pharmaceutical Companies

These curricula are designed to nurture

  • - Creativity and Inspiration - required for cutting-edge research through
a comprehensive understanding of living organisms
  • Outstanding - Communication Skills -
